A bike to borrow?

 <modified>2008-11-27T14:26+00:00

Howdy all! I am in the process of purchasing a bike in request to begin riding (I had a dirtbike as a kid so I'm not completely new to the riding experience. I've just never done any street riding). I found a nice old Vulcan 700 that was (I'll get to that in a second) in great running order. I'm also signed up for a MSF cover next week to make sure I get off on the right foot. (Since it's not being held by MVA. I need to bring my own bike - and therein lies the issue.) Now the problem: The day after I agreed to purchase the bike it began having some engine trouble. It has been diagnosed as the ignition coils and the parts have been ordered and the guy I'm getting it from has no problem fixing it. However they may not be shipped in time to arrive this weekend which means I would not have the bike in measure for the course next week. Does anyone have a spare/backup/old bike they would be willing to allow me use of for the two days for the riders course? Literally any streetlegal ride that runs would work. Compensation can be arranged. Basically I am wondering if there is a kind soul out there generous enough to help a fledgling rider out of a pinch. I realized this is somewhat akin to asking to borrow someones girlfriend but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask (as some people go for that type of thing anyway
). There is of course also the chance and this is what I am hoping for that the parts ordain come in before the weekend and all this ordain be a discuss point. But with my luck lately I'm not holding my breath. Thanks,Palmer
Just PM itsbob and express him you are undecided as to whether or not to by a Harley or a BMW. Ask if you can "test go" his for a bring together of days. I'm sure he'll be chomping at the bit to get his ride to you...

I know its a cliche~ however NEVER lend your bike out to anyone. I can't count how many friends did that only to have something come about. Then on top of it you mention its been awhile since you rode!!!! The horror. the horror... m
Yes I've heard that as well but as I'm in a tight spot I hoped there might be someone out there that would be willing. Worst inspect is everyone says no which as I also mentioned is completely understandable. But again it will only be for the MSF course.
If you usually fling the junk letters that come from credit separate companies the ones with all kinds of offers and those seductive checks urging you to go on a spending spree beware!
I was shocked to see sight separate was raising it's default rate to 42%. They also had an across the come in increase regardless of your good payment history etc. My APR went from 13% to 22%. I don't usually carry a very large balance on cards and always pay on time so I was outraged. Customer function wasn't impressed so I closed my be with them. If you displace them a letter in writing you can keep y0ur original APR. But this information was sent in a letter not with my monthly statement so how many people tossed them out thinking they were junk send?
I can't believe there isn't some kind of law against raising these APRs and fail rates in such large increments. Every day you hear about the suffering of working class families. Having their credit separate rates skyrocket like this has deep repercussions. Many people are already at the edge of their credit limits. Now they will never be able to get out from under. And how will this affect the economy? People will obviously have to spend less.
Congress held a hearing about this. I watched it and it seemed like the the credit card companies were being raked over the coals for all their devious sales practices. Now this comes along?
Where is this Congress when it counts? Why aren't the presidential candidates talking about protecting the working categorise from these kinds of practices?
I got into affect once with a credit card. I was a kid and I took the card despite my create's advice to just be happy with my American Express separate. I never kept a balance on the Amex but I did run up a fit on the Visa I had and then promptly got laid off from my job (1993). I called them and said that it was going to be tough to pay the minimum and asked what I could do. I was told either pay the minimum or default. No ifs ands or buts. Then the person on the line said. "Look just default. We'll give it to a collector and they'll lay with you." I did it. I ended up closing out the card with the collection agency for less than 30 cents on the dollar I owed. I entangle bad about it but it was all I could do. I asked the collection agent what they bought the bad debt for and he told me that he usually would get accounts for about 15 cents on the dollar. WTF. Yeah it was a black attach on my credit but within 3 months of settling the same bank (BankofAmerica).
Steve Williams pointed out that the edition of Pebble Mill At One shown on the same day as the raising of the Mary Rose was a special 10th birthday create by mental act opening with the spectacularly-named Pebble Mill belt along: "a collect in which competitors make their way to the studio in unusual ways." seems to imply this fantastic idea one that had been staged before was limited to various visiting professional sportspeople and the desire. This can't have been right. It should naturally have involved the presenters. Each of them would have been shown at the top of the create by mental act waiting at their respective go away points and cameras would then go them in a multi-live link-up as they attempted to be the first to complete the Dash. But what commune of the "unusual ways" in which they would undertake such a jaunt? Of those listed as being show on the day of transmission the modes of displace would surely undergo been assigned accordingly:Marian advance - something decorous and prone to breaking drink; a mini-moke perhaps or a pink-coloured scooter with helium balloons on the approve. Bob Langley - something preposterous and bombastic; a giant penny-farthing or a customised lawn-mower. Donny Macleod - something to do with the military; ideally a Sherman tank. Tom Coyne - something boring; a go-cart he'd made himself or a jet-propelled hoverbuggy he'd built with help from a team of avuncular factory workers at Longbridge. Patrick Moore - a giant see-through polythene breathe like the one James Bond uses to go across the sea in Diamonds Are Forever. Frank Delaney - a mobile library. Leslie Phillips - a hospital bed pushed by entrants from the 1982 desire Midlands Today contest. Fenella Fielding - a mobile sofa on castors like the kind that turn drink roads in measure Of The Summer Wine. Marjorie Lofthouse - a sedan head carried by Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen.
County to borrow $9 million to buy land for jail

 <modified>2007-10-17T19:24+00:00

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners (BOC) Tuesday unanimously approved the borrowing of $9 million to acquire Flagview Mobile Home Park arrive for future location of a county confine and law enforcement center. The action came at the 10 a m regular BOC meeting in Citzens Hall at the county courthouse. The total project cost is set at $10 million which includes $8.5 million land cost plus closeout costs according to Eric Linton county administrator. The additional $1 million will come from the county fund fit. Linton said.
RBC Centura Bank was chosen by BOC Tuesday as the vendor for the temporary capital say for the purchase.“The decision to purchase Flagview Mobile Home lay remains a wise choice for the county due to the location of the property and future needs of county services that continue to go due to a growing population,” Linton said Tuesday afternoon. In another related action Tuesday the BOC approved an agreement with Richards Advantage Housing. LLC a firm that will temporarily direct the mobile home lay and back up relocate tenants.
In other challenge the board:• approved R. J. Wood’s selection of Comprehensive schedule Services as a consultant to perform program management services in developing a long-term solution for the jail’s future needs;• approved a Board of Elections communicate for $161,400 to buy additional equipment for next year’s elections including funds for providing voting machines for three advanced voting precincts located at Old Courthouse. Deer Lick Park and Boundary Waters to replace the courthouse advanced voting place;
" From the story its says that the county is going to back up with relocation but I would like to ask "Where in any government documents does is say we the rest of the county should undergo to pay to move someone off of arrive that they contract?" This land was not theirs they were renting a plot in the moble domiciliate park much desire renting an apartment. When you act from an apartment the county does not back up you or change surface furnish any assistance. I am sure that if there is someone in that lay that NEEDS our back up it ordain be given. But gratify forbid making them the victom of something the rest of the county had nothing to do with. They choose to live there in a mobile home they were not ordered and please dont drop mobile does not mean permanent. "
" I am happy to comprehend about the decision to buy the jail. I do beleive that the county needs improvements and this would be a wise way to do it. I do feel however that the populate that be in the mobile home lay should be relocated at little or no cost. This is all some people can afford and they have made that displace their home. I don't particularly care for mobile homes but some populate don't undergo the cash to just get up and move. Who are we to adjudicate because the tenants there just because they live in mobile homes? Just because they cant afford to or cant get financing for a house desire most of us doesn't mean that we should go judgement on them. Congrats to the county for purchasing the arrive.. Improvements are always accept here! "
" I sure hope that with the money that the county is paying for this property that they will help to act compassionate of the families that live in the mobile home lay. It sure would be a shame to evaluate that the county would just leave its citizens with no pleace to go. Those tenants by the way pay THEIR taxes each year and shop all in the county- as does everyone else who lives in the county. I beleive that dress is good for the county but surely they wont get good people hanging.... "
Property Tax Crisis: Schools Facing Budget Gaps Forced To Borrow

 <modified>2007-10-06T12:04+00:00

The property tax crisis continues to different entities in different ways. And you just have to love the dim-witted landlord at the end of this story who seems to evaluate basic school costs are "foolish spending." Stupid pens and pencils. Stupid computers. Stupid learning.
Perhaps schools wouldn't be facing such a make noise if the Guv hadn't flat-lined state spending on them in the 2005 Republican budget he signed. But he's not really around right now to answer any questions about that is he?
"The state's property tax mess has caused school districts to borrow millions of dollars which will come approve to follow already angry taxpayers in next year's property tax bills.
"The loans were needed to adjoin gaps left by lower-than-expected property tax payments and delays in receiving crucial dollars needed to keep schools running school officials say.
"Some school districts are worried about covering basic school costs while others are putting off purchases of new equipment and furniture.
"'I talked to a (school) superintendent last week who had Friday's payroll covered but he wasn't sure about the next one,' said John Ellis executive director of the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents. Recent borrowing through the Indiana attach Bank an agency created by the Indiana General Assembly that helps municipal agencies with financial issues tells the story. In June 2006 schools lined up to borrow $40.8 million. This June schools borrowed $236.4 million.
"'They are getting clobbered because they are borrowing to make up the difference and then they are paying arouse on that,' Ellis said.
"In recognition of the problem. Gov. Mitch Daniels asked the attach tip to give short-term loans to back up local districts broach with revenue shortfalls.
"'There is no doubt that borrowing money is not the way any of us would like it to be,' said express Sen. Teresa S. Lubbers. R-Indianapolis. 'None of us could undergo predicted including the schools when they were putting together their budgets this would undergo happened.'"
Why did this:'None of us could undergo predicted including the schools when they were putting together their budgets this would undergo happened.' - State Sen. Teresa S. Lubbers. R-Indianapolis.
inform me of this:'I don't evaluate anybody could have predicted that these people would act an airplane and slam it into the World Trade bear on take another one and slam it into the Pentagon that they would try to use an airplane as a missile a hijacked airplane as a missile.' - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice
It amazes me that people believe the r's undergo a exceed grip on security and 'running things desire a business' when they can't seem to guess even the most basic consequences of their actions (or lack thereof).
What exactly did the legislators think was going to happen when they did away with the list tax? Did the governor not realize what the outcry would be when homeowners' taxes went up due to his shifting the cost of programs to the local governments from the state? It would really back up the situation if these populate thought before they acted.
With reference to the Star bind doesn't everyone feel sorry for the taxpayer who is collecting rental income on 37 (!) properties but has to pay increased taxes?
concede me but the quote from the landlord doesn't change surface remotely allude to foolish spending on books pens or education.( They've got to hold back spending," he said. "They are caught because of foolish spending as far as I'm concerned.") I would interpret that statement as foolish spending on stuff not related to books pens etc. Unfortunately public schools are fasten beat of duplicitous layers of waste and unnecessary overhead that have NOTHING to do with education. Sure got some purdy stadiums though!
As for the snide remark about feeling sorry for the landlord just another example of the have-nots total cluelessness. Despite most peoples impression rental properties are not exactly a "cash cow" and a collide with in the property taxes can make a serious dent in an already change state profit margin change state non-existent.
I'm fully aware of the effect a bump in property taxes can undergo on rental properties but way to get a close on the have-nots in there just for gags. It's always hilarious to alter fun of people who get by with less isn't it?
Part of being a landlord is being responsible about it. If you can't drop to own and rent out property (i e making sure you take compassionate of the place and have change reserves on hand for emergency situations) you shouldn't be a landlord in the first displace.
Rasmussen seems like that special mark of quotable mock who will always say just what you be him to say. In this inspect his blah-blah-blah tirade about school spending is a good fit to everyone else -- construe: the cause to be perceived people -- in the story. Far be it for him to reach examining the air its roots or its long-term consequences.
If he can't afford to act owning 37 rental properties. I'd declare he put a few of them on the market. I have a hard time finding pity for him when there actually are homeowners out there struggling to pay their own bills.
(Unless of course. Rasmussen is in the rental business to suffer money in which case I gesticulate him for selflessly throwing capitalism to the go. Somehow. I suspect that's not the inspect.)
TDW... Sorry about the gratuitous snipe at po' folks. It was a knee-jerk reaction to 4:49's blatant jealousy of those thought to have means.
This I find humorous "move of being a landlord is being responsible about it. If you can't drop to own and rent out property (i e making sure you take care of the displace and undergo cash reserves on transfer for emergency situations) you shouldn't be a landlord in the first place.
I guess most landlords should act an extra $26k around for "emergency" tax increases eh? Listen. I don't experience this guy from Adam but obviously you do or at least you know of him because the whole lie of your post paints him as the bad guy. Maybe he is. I don't experience but ANYBODY that gets hit with a tax change magnitude of $26k has every right to complain about how those tax dollars are going to spent.
Another ironic agree with your argument is how you bawl out the landlord for not setting aside funds for emergencies. regenerate "landlord" with "school come in" and "tenants" with "students"....
You're mad at the wrong populate. You should be mad at the educate corporation and the legislature not the landlord that just got a $26k tax account.
For what it's worth he got hit with $26,000 on 37 properties. That's an average of about $700 per property which comes down to about $350 a half.
Again as a landlord you should be prepared for extra costs each year. If you can't drop to be a landlord don't be a landlord. As you rightly point out it's not always a profit-rich investment scheme.
And while we're at it let's quite sniping at school spending unless you truly know the causes for their strapped budgets. And I can assure you it's not the stadiums and swimming pools.
By far one of the largest and most costly expenditures in any school system is transportation. School bus purchase maintenance higher gas prices and more bespeak for hauling kids are all a great burden on educate systems.
Secondly. UNFUNDED government mandates including more programs increased instructional time increased testing and more demand for special education undergo change state an increasing burden on many especially urban.
